Emma Wootton

Emma is a physiotherapist and Clinical Pilates instructor who completed her Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) at James Cook University in 2022. Shortly after graduating she finished her initial Clinical Pilates training with Dance Medicine Australia (DMA), and she has been teaching Clinical Pilates ever since. She began working in private practice in 2023 and has also worked with sporting clubs, providing on- and off-field assessment and management of sporting injuries. Alongside her own training, the guidance of her mentors and educators continues to shape how she thinks about movement, rehabilitation and performance.

Emma has particular interests in spinal conditions and pain management, women’s health, and sports physiotherapy. That covers a lot of ground — the back and neck pain that builds through a week at a desk, the persistent aches that have been there long enough to feel normal, the changes women notice through different stages of life, and the injuries that happen mid-season when you would much rather be playing.

Within her Clinical Pilates practice, Emma combines strength and conditioning principles with evidence-based physiotherapy. The aim is practical: building strength, improving how you move and how freely you move, so your body is better equipped for the things you ask of it every day. In her classes she is particularly interested in confidence — helping you trust your body again and get back to the activities you enjoy, at a pace that suits where you are now.

Her approach to rehabilitation is a tailored one. Emma builds individual programs around both your short-term goals and the longer view, and she is a firm believer in you taking an active role in your own recovery. Expect to understand what you are doing and why, so the progress you make with her carries over into the rest of your week.

Outside the clinic, Emma is a fan of sunny days, iced lattes (even in winter) and running outdoors. She also loves visiting her family in Far North Queensland whenever she gets the chance to escape the Melbourne cold.
